Weibull Analysis – Application to Reliability Engineering

Weibull Analysis – Introduction

This presentation has been designed with the intention of assisting practising engineers to apply Weibull Analysis, while driving out the common fear of statistics among them. The emphases have been on providing a step-by-step explanation to completing the analysis, and facilitate life estimations and inferences for data-and-analysis based decisions.

Weibull analysis is the process of discovering the trends in product or system failure and using them to predict future failures in similar situations.

By learning these trends, we can attempt to correct or compensate for them, thereby improving product reliability.

Weibull analysis can be used to study a variety of fields, practices and disciplines. It can employ several different failure distributions, depending upon the specific situation. The primary advantage is that it can provide reasonably accurate analyses and failure forecasts with extremely small data samples.
